Dr. Kevin Lucas grew up in Arlington Heights and knew he wanted to become an orthodontist ever since he had braces as a freshman at Wheeling High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana in 1982 and received his dental degree from the University of Illinois Medical Center in 1986. He continued his orthodontic specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated in 1989.
Dr. Lucas has been teaching orthodontics since 1990 at the University of Pennsylvania (an Ivy League school), where he is an Associate Professor. Through the program he has educated more than 200 orthodontists who practice worldwide. He completed the highest level of board certification in orthodontics and was the recent president of the Chicago Dental Society Northwest Suburban area.
Dr. Lucas is very active in the dental community as founder of the Northern Illinois Dentofacial Study Group. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, Illinois Society of Orthodontics, American Dental Association. and the Chicago Dental Society. He also lectures on adult orthodontics and interceptive orthodontic treatment.
Dr. Lucas is a leading authority on adult orthodontics and treats patients from all over the country who have the most challenging dental problems. He also developed the R.S.E. (Remarkable Smiles Efficiently) system, which provides ideal treatment in the shortest time possible.
Outside the office you will find Dr. Lucas pursuing his passion for outdoor adventure sports. He is an avid hockey player and runner and enjoys working on and racing sports cars.
Dr. Lucas and his wife Renee have three children: Brett, Nicolette, and Justin. Brett graduated from Emory University and is in dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. Nicolette graduated from Michigan State where she studied Business and Human Resources. Justin attends Michigan State where he is in the business college and plays lacrosse.
In addition to his work in the office, Dr. Lucas mentors middle and high school students to help develop their interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare field.
